I love a good food holiday, so if March 14th is considered pi day and thus pie day, I am absolutely using that as an excuse to eat a good piece of pie! This gorgeous slice of German chocolate pie is from my favorite pie shop and I've been looking forward to it all day. 😊

Just because a food doesn't include every micronutrient or it does contain an abundance of sugar and fat doesn't mean it isn't good for your soul. And good balanced nutrition includes these soul-nourishing foods too. I recommend mindfully enjoying these treats, savoring each bite rather than racing through the experience, and sharing with others to maximize the delicious joy they provide. ☀️
Nation-wide rainy cold weather sweeping through has me dreaming about this lone sunflower I saw on my walk home a couple weeks ago. This Midwestern girl is not used to seeing flowers in full bloom in February, but I am all for it! Next time the weather is tolerable, I encourage you to go for a walk outside and see what natural beauties you notice. You may not have to go anywhere special -- I found this gem amidst the weeds lining a broken sidewalk and a chain-link fence. 🌻
I found these bright happy bowls on clearance while perusing the aisles of At Home on one of our recent dreary & overcast weekends. Usually, I opt for neutral color dishes, but I just couldn't resist this splash of color brightening my cupboard and bringing me a little extra joy each time I serve myself a snack. ☀️
Friendly reminder that it's okay to miss the mark.
This weekend my cutie pie niece put 2 of her stickers on my forehead, then took this photo of me with the new additions... completely leaving my forehead (and the stickers) out of the frame. I told her you couldn't see the stickers in the picture, and she couldn't have cared less. 😂
So maybe your shot or your presentation or your pick-up line won't be perfect, but maybe you can just go for it anyway and be proud of the job you did. ☀️
Once upon a walk during the first couple months of social distancing in 2020, I spotted a 10-foot puddle with hundreds of tadpoles!! I had never seen tadpoles in the "wild" like that and was so excited to watch their growth process that I made sure to walk in that direction at least once a week. It seemed like they were tadpoles foreverrrr, then one day their back legs started showing, and the next time I checked on them they were gone!
It's funny how a pandemic (and working from home and not being able to do my normal social activities) helped me notice and appreciate these little guys more than I would have been able to normally.
I do not have a green thumb, so keeping this basil plant alive on my balcony is a major accomplishment for me. Over the past year, watching this aromatic plant grow has brought me joy and taught me two important lessons:
1) Do not over-water your basil plant!! (If you do, apparently you can start growing mold in the soil.)
2) Be content only using a a few leaves of fresh home-grown basil and accept that you'll just have to buy basil elsewhere if you want to make pesto.
